The 2008 Committee Outfit General Information

A Cheshire Cat’s Grin!

Our committee outfit was designed with the Cheshire Cat in mind. Fabric color and style were selected to reflect the colors of the finicky feline, while the “swirl” design of the skirt was chosen to emulate the stripes on the Cheshire Cat’s back. We encourage all committee members to wear the convention outfit as one more way to promote our event. To that end, we have tried to give committee members several options to meet your own personal fashion tastes.

Committee outfits can either be made by the dancer or purchased from Barbara’s Dance Fashions of Hurst, Texas. Order forms can be found on the convention website, www.CAState2008.org, or by contacting the General Chairmen.

LADIES’ OUTFIT
Skirt: Either standard length or prairie length skirt of the print fabric with contrasting stripe to give the “swirl” effect. The 6” ruffle at the bottom of the skirt consists of 4” of the print fabric and 2” of the stripe fabric.
Standard Blouse: There are two matching blouse choices for this outfit – either the Standard Blouse or the Rumba Blouse. The Standard blouse is made from print fabric with rounded neckline and elbow length puff sleeves. The sleeves have an inset of the stripe fabric and a 2” ruffle of the stripe fabric. This blouse can either be work by itself or with the vest.
Rumba Blouse: This blouse is made in a peasant style from the print fabric. There is a single ruffle around the neckline of the stripe fabric, and 3 ruffles on each sleeve – two of the print fabric and one of the stripe fabric.
Vest: Reversible vest (print & stripe) or non-reversible vest of the print fabric.
Shirt: If you want to wear the vest but not one of the print blouses, you may select either a white or black shirt or blouse of your own choice. Or, a colored blouse if you can find a close match to the print or stripe fabric.
Belt: Made from the print or stripe fabric.
Petticoat & Sissy Pants: Black, white or a color that blends with the print or stripe fabric.
Shoes: Recommend black or white shoes.

MEN’S OUTFIT
Slacks: Black or white slacks recommended.
Shirt: White or Black with either reversible or non-reversible vest of the print fabric. If you don’t want to wear a vest, a black or white shirt with yokes of the print or stripe fabric, or a shirt made from the print fabric (you may accent with the stripe fabric if you desire).
Vest: Reversible vest (print & stripe) or non-reversible vest of the print fabric. Please note that the vest shown in the photo on the website has a contrasting stripe on the front – committee members voted to NOT have this contrasting stripe on the vest.
Tie: Made from the print or stripe fabric, or a combination of the two.
Accessories: Shoes & belts to match pants.

SPECIAL NOTES
The Outfit Order Form lists the standard sizes, skirt lengths, etc. that Barbara’s Dance Fashions works from. However, they are very willing to work with you on special orders – just be sure you indicate your requests on the order form. If you have special concerns, contact them directly at (800) 643-6727 or barbfashions@aol.com. If you want to make your own outfit, we request you purchase your fabric from Barbara’s Dance Fashions as they made a commitment for a large quantity of the print fabric.

PLEASE ORDER YOUR OUTFITS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
REMEMBER -- YOU CANNOT WEAR YOUR OUTFIT IN PUBLIC UNTIL THE GRAND MARCH
AT THE 2007 STATE CONVENTION IN RIVERSIDE.
